Roberto Buizza, full professor of Physics of the Earth, Planets, Space, and Climate at the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Sustainability and Climate, is among the twenty-five scientists and climate experts in Italy who have signed an appeal to the Italian government to firmly support the European target of reducing climate-changing emissions by 90% by 2040, indicated by the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change (ESABCC) as a crucial step towards achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

The initiative comes a few days after the European Commission announced that the EU is on track to meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for 2030.
